Fundraising Speaker Volunteer
Fundraising Speaker Volunteers play an important role in maintaining relationships with our supporters in the local area - informing people about Parkinson's and raising funds for our vital work. Thanks to our volunteer speakers all over the country giving inspirational talks to community groups, churches and schools we can transform even more lives. The Volunteer Speaker will support the Regional Fundraiser's annual fundraising strategy by inspiring the community to raise funds for Parkinson's UK. More widely you will support the Regional Team in their aim to reach everyone with Parkinson's.
The Volunteer Speaker role will research groups in the local area, develop relationships and book talks to inform people about Parkinson's and inspire groups to support our work and raise funds. You will liaise closely with your Regional Fundraiser about planned talks and proactively seek opportunities to speak to local groups. You will also attend cheque presentations or local events on behalf of Parkinson's UK and thank our supporters and hosts.
The skills, qualities and experience you will need for this role are confidence in speaking in front of groups of adults and/or children and an interest or experience in public speaking. You will need to have the ability to use your own initiative and work unsupervised. A knowledge of the local groups in the Guildford and South Surrey area would be a bonus but not essential. Finally, you must be committed to Parkinson's UK's vision and mission.
By being a Volunteer Speaker you will have the opportunity to develop your public speaking skills and confidence through formal training and experience. You will have the chance to meet new and inspiring people from your local community. You will learn more about Parkinson's UK's work and have the opportunity to attend local events. Finally you will be learning new skills whilst having fun!
