Cranleigh Library of Things

Cranleigh Library of Things driver

Help Cranleigh people to access tools and equipment that they might not be able to afford, or to store, or only need rarely.  Help us to help them save money & precious resources.

This role requires the use of your car to fetch and return items which have been reserved for the Cranleigh Library of Things- a journey of 1.5 miles from Cranleigh Library to our storage. In this role you will come to understand the local community better and be able to contribute to its wellbeing by identifying what additions we can make to the inventory

  • You would be volunteering as part of a team on Friday afternoon each week or on a monthly rota
  • Some lifting will be necessary but there are strict limits - our items are all less than 10kg
  • There will be free safe parking at Cranleigh library for the collection etc
  • There can be a reimbursement of petrol costs if necessary
  • Items need to be checked on return – a general inspection of the items will be made and any life experience you have will be very useful in this too

Mission Statement

Our mission is to work with the people of Cranleigh to create a more sustainable village through our weekly free Library of Things, giving everyone access to tools and equipment which are difficult to afford, or to store, or only needed rarely.

In addition, we provide regular advice on how to save energy and organise monthly pop-ups to interest adults and young people in ways of responding to the various impacts of climate change.
