Duty Officer
Help make the Cranleigh community stronger!
Cranleigh Village Care needs duty officers to take calls from local residents who need help getting to health care and other vital appointments. They then match the request from a list of on call volunteer drivers.
We ask duty officers to be able to commit to doing at least one volunteer shift per month. A shift consists of answering phone calls from 10 am to 12 pm and then spending up to two to three hours to ring drivers followed up by confirming to the client when a lift is arranged so approximately five hours per volunteering session.
You will need friendliness, patience and empathy and you will be helping provide a service for people who would otherwise be unable to attend their appointments.
Full training an on going support is provided..
Our duty officers sometimes combine this role with that of being a volunteer driver. See other role on this page.
To apply please fill in an application and we will get back to you. We look forward to hearing from you.
About Us
Cranleigh Village Care
We are a group of volunteers who have been serving the Cranleigh community for over 20 years. We have provided transport for Cranleigh residents who need our support to attend their medical appointments at local surgeries, clinics and hospitals.
Because of Covid restrictions we have been unable to operate since March 2020.
We would love to be able to relaunch our service for existing and new clients as soon as we can because we know that there are local people who are struggling to get to vital appointments because of a lack of transport.
We do have a core of drivers and duty officers (who deal with telephone requests and arrange the transport) who are keen to get started again but we desperately need to find new volunteers to help coordinate the service and we always need more drivers.
