Volunteer Adviser - Ash

We are a Citizens Advice Bureau situated in Ash advising clients within the areas of Ash, Ash Vale, Tongham & Normandy, together with the outskirts of Guildford. We are a small friendly team and welcome people from all areas of the community. We are looking for volunteers to train as advisers, to give advice on a number of areas including housing, legal matters, relationships, employment, benefits, debt and consumer.

The adviser training takes place at the bureau. The initial period of training takes approximately 6 months, during which time you will attend weekly group tutorials with your Training Supervisor which usually takes place on Friday mornings. You are required to work 1 session per week ie. one full day and be expected to attend approximately 6 staff meetings in a year. You will be reimbursed for travel costs.

Mission Statement

To give advice and information on a wide range of subjects including welfare benefits, employment law, housing, consumer rights, family law, debt management etc.  Our service is free, impartial, confidential and independent.  We answer enquiries by personal interview, letter, phone or, where needed, home visit.  We negotiate, when appropriate, on behalf of our clients with third parties.
