Volunteer Mentor
MCR Pathways are seeking volunteer mentors over the age of 21, to work in Surrey schools to make a life changing difference to a disadvantaged young person.
MCR Pathways is a UK based charity, working with care experienced or otherwise disadvantaged young people in schools across Surrey to provide relationship based mentoring support through a network of volunteers.
The young person has a mentor who cares about them, supports them, and champions their cause to help them realise their potential and talent.
Through this the mentor develops their empathy and listening skills.
Together it can truly change a life!
No specific experience or skills are required, just the ability to be there for the young person, to listen and to care.
We ask all our mentors to volunteer for a minimum of a year, spending one hour a week in their chosen school during term time.
Mentors are needed at our schools in Guildford and Ash.
We will need to conduct a DBS check at no cost to you, as well as get the details of two character references.
Training including safeguarding information is provided to all our mentors before they are matched with a young person.
Mission Statement
MCR Pathways supports vulnerable young people in the care system, those who have previously been in the care system, or those who have other hardships in their lives to realise their full potential. We do this by providing mentoring in school during term time to help these young vulnerable students to reach their full potential in school and life despite their difficult circumstances. So they are defined by their talent and not their circumstances. We are looking for volunteer mentors for these young people, for one hour a week, for a minimum of one year, in your local area. You could really change a young persons future!
At MCR Pathways our aim is to help young people unlock their potential, no matter their circumstances. Working together with our inspiring mentor community and partners, we can help young people to realise their skills and progress onto a positive destination. Our vision is for all young people to experience equality of education outcomes, career opportunities and life chances.
