Volunteer Mentor

For many young people in Surrey, an unfair start in life means that they can lose their way for the rest of their life.

You can change that.

We are looking for volunteer mentors to make a life changing difference to a young person facing challenges.

You would be carefully matched to a young person The young person then has a mentor who cares about them, supports them, and champions their cause to help them realise their potential and talent. Through this the mentor develops their empathy and listening skills. Together it can truly change a life!

No specific experience or skills are required, just the ability to be there for the young person, to listen and to care.

Here's what mentoring with us involves: -
Your commitment: Just one hour a week during school hours and term time, for a minimum of one year, offering a listening ear, encouragement and support.
Training: You’ll complete our interactive 3-hour mentor training (which can be done online or in person) to help you feel confident and ready.
Matching: We’ll carefully match you with a young person, based on shared interests and personalities.
Ongoing support: You’ll be fully supported by our team.

We are looking for mentors currently for Christs College, Kings College, Ash Manor and Wey Valley College.

We will need to conduct a DBS check at no cost to you, as well as get the details of two character references. You must be 21+.

Mission Statement

Adult and young person

When you’ve had the most unfair start in life you can lose the way for the rest of your life. MCR Pathways is working until every young person has someone to help them find their way. We are changing lives through the power of mentoring.

We are an award winning school based youth mentoring charity supporting young people in schools across Surrey. We want to ensure more young people are helped to find their path to positive futures.

Our volunteer mentors help young people to realise their full potential. They spend just an hour each week, in school, listening to and encouraging a young person. The relationship that develops is what makes the difference. Could you help a young person to build their confidence and discover their potential?

Mentors and young people are carefully matched based on their likes, personality and life-experiences. Everyone is different, so we look for mentors from all walks of life. When one person mentors, two lives are changed.

Come and join our amazing community of mentors!
