Care for Guildford (Free Transport Scheme)

Driver (Posted Sept 2019)

Transport can be a major concern for the elderly, vulnerable or infirm. Public transport is often not available, inaccessible or infrequent, whilst taxis are expensive. Care for Guildford provides free transport for such clients where it is essential for their well being, such as medical appointments.

We are always looking for volunteer drivers. The charity’s constitution stipulates that clients must live within the old borough of Guildford. Similarly we require our drivers to be permanently resident in Guildford and the immediate surroundings.

We provide our services during normal working hours Monday to Friday.

Volunteer drivers

  • Must have a current licence and their own car
  • There is maximum flexibility to fit their driving around other commitments.

They can work as little or as much as suits them, and can accept or refuse
    jobs when offered.

  • Can claim mileage expenses
  • Require two referees, and must complete a DBS application

Some drivers, if they prefer, can carry out regular shopping for clients who cannot shop for themselves.
