Branch Treasurer

To provide accounting support to the Branch, to ensure that financial transactions are recorded accurately and in time for meetings such as Committee Meetings and the Annual General Meeting, within the guidelines of Parkinson's UK policies and procedures and helping to achieve and maintain the goals and values of Parkinson's UK.

 This role involves working closely with the branch Activities Coordinator and the main committee..

The Guildford group offers many activity's for People with Parkinson's such as, exercise, hydrotherapy, outings, singing and social meetings. These activities are so important in improving the lives of people in the community and their carers who are living with Parkinson's.

What are we looking for

• Ideally you will have previous financial experience, as well as a willingess to learn so you can hit the ground running.

• Be a good communicator, as you will be working with a wide range of different people.

• Be collaborative and team focused as you will need to discuss the branch's finances with the committee and Parkinson's UK.

• Be motivated ad reliable, with strong financial, IT and organisational skills in order to help the branch operate at its best

Accurately record financial activity, keeping the branch and UK Office informed of the branch's financial position. Be a signatory on the accounts and bank account.

Provide guidance on financial policies, internal control and appropriate use of funds

Provide regular reports to the committee on the financial status of the branch - this is currently about 4 times per year at committee meetings

Prepare final accounts for the Annual General Meeting

Deal with financial administration for the branch, including sending annual financial returns to the UK office, ensuring volunteer expenses are paid accurately and working within the guidelines of the Treasurer's Guide.

Practical considerations:

The hours are approximately 8 per month but this may vary during busy times of the year. The role is mainly home based but would require the volunteer to attend approx. 6 committee meetings in the year and where possible branch meetings which are held monthly.

Parkinson's UK provide an induction and ongoing support from fellow volunteers and regional staff. Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
