Talking Newspaper Assistant

Hello there!

We are a friendly bunch who record the local newspaper (The Surrey Advertiser) for visually impaired people.

Each week, we send recordings to visually impaired people in the Guildford and Waverley area.

We are looking for reliable people to join small teams undertaking one of three roles. These are:-

a) Admin tasks
b) Reading aloud or
b) Recording activities (using a lap top computer)

Each team records once every seven weeks on a Monday evening at Surrey University, starting at about 5pm for about 2 hours.
So your commitment would be once every 7 weeks, for 2 hours on a Monday evening.

Skills and Qualifications:-
a) Admin tasks - you will need administration skills
b) Reading aloud - a clear voice is needed
c) Recording - you will need to be confident and competent in using a laptop computer. Full training in using the recording software will be given.

You need to be aged 18+

Directions:

We carry out our work at Surrey University. The site is easily accessible by public transport.

You will be offered on hand support from other volunteers and perhaps some tea and biscuits!
