Hours: Ad-hoc, flexible; scheduling will be based on volunteer availability

Summary:
We are looking for a volunteer for our Lingfield Charity Shop to help us with small maintenance jobs which often get delayed.
We would really appreciate the help of a practical and reliable volunteer Handyman/person to help with general DIY and maintenance tasks, ensuring our Shop’s remain safe, functional, and welcoming for our customers.
This role is highly flexible and can be arranged around your availability.
Whether you can give a few hours a month or more regularly, your help will be greatly appreciated as it will make a real difference in keeping our shops well maintained and running smoothly.
Use your DIY skills to support a great cause – Age UK Surrey supports older people across Surrey with our services and activities
Main Duties:
General repairs, including fixing door handles, furniture, and minor
plumbing issues.
Basic painting and decorating to keep our spaces looking fresh and welcoming.
Minor electrical work, such as changing light bulbs or securing loose fittings.
Basic carpentry, such as putting up shelves or repairing damaged furniture.
Identifying and reporting any larger maintenance issues to Staff Manager.
Personal Qualities:
Reliable, friendly, helpful and willing and able to volunteer as part of a team and independently.
Skills:
Basic DIY and Maintenance Skills.
No Professional qualifications required, just confidence in general Basic handyman tasks.
Problem-Solving Mindset – Ability to assess small maintenance issues
and find practical solutions and repairs as needed.
Attention to Detail – Ensuring work is completed safely and to a good
standard.
Flexibility – Happy to take on a variety of small jobs based on the Shop’s needs.
Expenses:
Age UK Surrey will reimburse all agreed expenses e.g. car mileage.
You will be given shop familiarisation training covering the practical maintenance requirements and shop operations.
You will attend an induction also into the Charity providing important health and safety and other key information for volunteering with us.
We will contact two referees you provide for a reference.
We also conduct a basic background check with your consent.
Volunteers need to be age 18 or over.
