We need volunteer drivers to provide lifts to residents of Farncombe and Binscombe, mainly but not exclusively elderly people or with mobility problems. Lifts are mainly short runs to the doctors or local shopping centres, but can be further afield, for instance to the nearby hospitals. You are free to accept or decline requests, as suits your circumstances. You can do as many or as little hours as you have available.
Our clients are very appreciative of the service and you will find them very agreeable people to deal with.
As you will be working in some cases with vulnerable adults, we do ask that you be DBS (formerly CRB) checked, and naturally you will need to have a well-maintained vehicle and current licence.
We pay 45p per mile currently to defray your running costs and have employer and public liability cover.
As a volunteer you will be a member of our scheme. We have get-togethers from time to time at which you can meet fellow drivers, and you can help make decisions about the future of the scheme.
All our drivers have told us that they have derived a great sense of satisfaction from serving their local community in this way.
