Volunteers - Various roles
Last year, we helped over 1000 women and children living in Guildford and Waverley boroughs whose lives are affected by domestic abuse. Now we are expanding our volunteer team, looking for people who share our passion for making a positive difference in the local community and empowering survivors to live a life free from harm.
We have a number of volunteer roles available:
Community Re-engagement Volunteers (0.5 days – 2 days a week)
Survivors of domestic abuse can struggle to re-engage in the community after their traumatic experiences. We are looking for a number of volunteers to help support survivors to build their confidence and self-esteem and act as their ‘companion’ when taking part in everyday community-based activities. For example, you might accompany them to a local National Trust, a knit and natter group or simply meet for a coffee and a chat in a local café. Expenses for both volunteer and survivor will be covered.
We envisage that this will be for half a day to 1 day a week depending on how much time you can commit and how many survivors you may wish to support.
Donations and Distribution Volunteers (ad hoc)
We are looking for two volunteers to help distribute posters and leaflets to sites around Waverley and Guildford Boroughs (including pharmacies, clothing stores and restaurants) as well as sort and deliver donations to survivors and their children near Easter and Christmas.
This is an ad hoc role perhaps 2-4 times a year.
Survivors Group Volunteer, Farnham (Half day, once a month)
Once a month, we host ‘Survivors Coffee’ an informal gathering of women who are or have experienced domestic abuse. This is a drop-in session for invited clients. We are looking for a volunteer to support our outreach workers and survivors at the sessions in Farnham.
Food Delivery – every Thursday morning
Frozen food from Farnham to Godalming every Thursday morning – delivery expenses reimbursed.
