Surrey Independent Visitor Service

Volunteers needed to visit and befriend children in care - Posted 29.08.2019

We need men and women volunteers, independent visitors, to befriend and visit children in care (aged 8 to 18), in Surrey and Surrey borders - including the Guildford and Waverley area.

Volunteers take a child out once per month to do an activity such as pizza, cinema, pottery painting, and museums - anything that you both enjoy!

We have boys who would like a male volunteer to visit them and take them fishing/football/snooker, so men please apply!

Our children appreciate your smile, listening ear, having another person in their support network and also that you are not paid to visit them.

We ask for a two year commitment and you need to have access to a car. The visits usually take place at a weekend.

We can pay reasonable travel expenses.

There is an Introductory Two Day Training Course to become an independent visitor, on Saturday 2nd and 9th November 2019  in Leatherhead.  We also have two open evenings on Monday 30th September 2019, 7 pm to 8.30pm in Woking and Wednesday 16th October, 7 pm to 8.30pm in Redhill.

If you are interested or want further information please complete the online application form.
