VOLUNTEER ROLE
Title: Dementia Support Volunteer
Hours:
Milford every Tuesday 2.00pm – 3.30pm.
Mytchett - Every Tuesday 1:00pm – 2.30pm.
Ash every Thursday 1:00pm – 2.30pm.
Ripley 1st & 3rd Fridays per month - 11:00 – 12:30pm (set up 10:45am).
Supported by: Dementia Outreach Worker

Main Duties:
Assisting Dementia Outreach Worker to facilitate a Memory Lane session for people living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (sessions to help maintain memory and mental functioning), this could involve helping with a range of activities such as art, music and reminiscence. Making tea & coffee.
Assisting Dementia Outreach Worker to facilitate group activity attended by people living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment and their carers – activities could range from quizzes to bingo to arts and crafts. Making tea & coffee.
Our dementia friendship and support groups provide a welcoming, safe space and a chance to socialise for people with dementia and their carers. The sessions are filled with activities, fun and visits from local services. Tea and biscuits included.
Training would be ‘on the job’ learning and specialist Dementia training if necessary; online DBS registration with Age UK Surrey will be provided at no cost.

Some experience with dementia or older people would be desirable but not essential.
Transport and Expenses
Unless located in walking distance then your own transport will be needed to get to The Mytchett Centre, Japonica Court. Milford or Ripley. Transport expenses will be reimbursed (keep receipts / record mileage)
