MS Society Surrey Group

Support Team Member

Do you have good listening skills? Could you become a valuable member of a team providing quality support and information to local people affected by MS?

The MS Society Surrey is looking for Support Volunteers in Surrey, to help people make use of the support that we and other local organisations can offer across the county.

MS support teams empower people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Support team members provide quality support and information in collaboration with other volunteers and local health professionals. This could be emotional support (a listening ear) and signposting people to other local sources of advice and support such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.  You may also want to help deliver our grants scheme - supporting people to complete grant applications for life-changing equipment not available through statutory services. You may do some home visiting, or you may provide support online or via telephone - the joy of this volunteer role is it can be tailored to your available time and circumstances.

If you have skills in this area already, or are able to commit to at least 12-24 months supporting us and would like to develop these skills as part of your CV, this may be the volunteering opportunity you're looking for.

These are the kind of skills the NHS now values in Primary Care roles like Social Prescribers, so this could be a doorway to a future career.

The role does require some formal training, which the MS Society will provide, and a DBS clearance check.

Interested? Please click on the 'Fill in application form' button & complete the short online form & we will be in touch.
