MS Society Surrey Group

Support Team Member

Do you have good listening skills? Could you become a valuable member of a team providing quality support and information to local people affected by MS?

MS support teams empower people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Support team members provide quality support and information in collaboration with other volunteers and local health professionals.

As a support team member you will provide emotional support (a listening ear) on the telephone or in person, and signpost people to other local sources of advice and support such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.  In addition you may visit people who are in residential care or who have become isolated at home.  Some support team members also help people access financial grants from the MS Society and elsewhere.

Training and support:

We offer four days of training for all support volunteers to assist you in your role as well as the opportunity to attend forums to share ideas and discuss common issues with other support volunteers.

Note that this role involves working with vulnerable people and so requires a DBS check.
