Our volunteers play a vital role in helping halow deliver meaningful support and opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and autism. We are currently looking for an Office Volunteer to support a new project focused on converting documents into Easy Read formats.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, has good attention to detail, and would like to develop their administrative, writing and digital skills. You’ll help us make important information more accessible and easier to understand.
What will you be doing?
As an Office Volunteer, you will support us with:
1. Converting existing documents into accessible Easy Read formats
2. Reading and condensing longer pieces of text into clear, simple language
3. Creating engaging and easy-to-follow documents using Microsoft Word and Canva
4. Working independently to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
5. Helping us make information more accessible and inclusive
We expect this project to require a commitment of approximately 50 hours, spread across multiple weeks.
Who can volunteer?
You don’t need previous volunteering experience. We’re looking for someone who is:
1. Reliable and committed
2. Comfortable working independently and managing their own tasks
3. Able to work efficiently and meet deadlines
4. Confident using Microsoft Word and willing to use Canva
5. Comfortable with basic copywriting and condensing information
6. Detail-oriented, with a good eye for presentation
7. Keen to learn and contribute to a meaningful project
Our office is based in Guildford, and this opportunity will primarily be office-based.

The halow project is a growing community-based charity, situated in Guildford, Surrey. We support young people, aged 16+, with a learning disability on their journey into adult life.
