Help desk volunteer
Tourettes Action (TA) are recruiting volunteers to work on their helpdesk. The TA helpdesk receives thousands of calls and emails each year from people with experience of Tourette Syndrome (TS), who are looking for information and support.
The helpdesk is open between 9am-5pm from Monday to Friday, and we are looking for volunteers to commit to a minimum of 10 hours each month. The role can be done from the TA office in Farnborough or from home after completion of induction and training.
Full training and ongoing supervision and support are given to volunteers to maximise their development and satisfaction with the role. No prior knowledge of TS is necessary although we recognise the value in any volunteers with experience of TS.
The helpdesk most commonly provides information on how to access a diagnosis and treatment, access to community groups, information for schools and how to manage TS in everyday life. The helpdesk also offers emotional support.
Periodically, we have induction days to help people to understand the role..
