Social Media Manager
The Cheryl King TrusT helps fund music lessons for financially disadvantaged local young people in Surrey. The charity is seeking to appoint a volunteer to help market the charity through social media.
You will be responsible for establishing the charity's social media presence on facebook, instagram and twitter and marketing the charity and its activities through regular posts on those social media activities. The target audience comprises music lovers in Surrey . You will work closely with the trustees and in particular the Chair and fund raising trustee. The role can be performed from anywhere in the UK although candidates living in Surrey are likely to be particularly attracted to the role
Initially you will initially base posts using communication materials developed by the fund raising trustee . As you develop in the roles you will be expected to initiate communication materials. In the longer term the opportunity exists to take on a broader marketing and communications role for the charity across all media
You will have previous social media marketing experience and know how to create, post and link high quality social media content in a way that maximises our target audience awareness of the charity
Copywriting and public relations experience would be advantageous but is not required for the role
The charity has ambitious plans to grow its activities and fund raising. Central to those plans is our ability to raise awareness of the charity and its activities with music lovers in Surrey . Social media will be critical to this
At present we are only able to help a limited number of children in a limited number of schools most of which are supported by Surrey Arts . With your help we could sustain that help and
- enable and inspire many more children across the county to make music
- help children in more schools including those not served by Surrey arts
- arrange more performances in more Surrey schools to inspire more children to take up instruments
You will have the opportunity to play a key role in making a step change in the charity's reach and longer term the opportunity should you wish to develop broader charity communication and marketing skills
Ideally we would like you to submit a cover letter and CV but would be happy to talk to you about the role before you do this

Helping financially disadvantaged young people to make music
CKT believes no young person should be precluded from taking music lessons because either their parents cannot afford them or they are not inspired to take up lessons.
We help fund music lessons for financially disadvantaged children and young people in Surrey whatever their level of musical development and tries to level the music playing field by funding inspirational performances to encourage children to take up instruments in schools where historically take up has been low.
