Guildford United Reformed Church

Dementia Group Volunteer

Sunflower Café is a fortnightly support group for those living with dementia and their carers.  Run jointly by Guildford United reformed Church and Right at Home Care Services, our group involves conversation, support, music and reminiscence activities.  The volunteer role involves welcoming the members to the group, making refreshments and chatting both with those with dementia and their carers; helping them to engage with the activities.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic and adept at making conversation and putting people at ease.  A welcoming and friendly disposition is essential as is being sensitive to the needs of those with dementia.

The Sunflower Café is a rewarding group to be involved with, it is a fun session offering a break to those living with dementia and their carers.  A small and friendly team at Guildford URC will ensure that you feel a valued part of the team.  Held in a modern and welcoming space, the Sunflower Café forms part of a larger project to address loneliness and social isolation in the local community.
