Outreach Volunteers (Domestic Abuse)

Our Outreach Service aims to offer existing outreach clients emotional and practical 1:1 support on a longer term or flexible basis.  Working with our experienced Outreach team in the community, you will be matched to clients based on their needs and requirements and your own skills, experience and availability.  You will meet clients on a regular basis to provide emotional and practical support, companionship and positive reinforcement. You may also support clients with one off activities.

The role will vary depending upon the needs of the client being supported but could involve going for a coffee and chat, going along to playgroups, attending court, accompanying clients to meetings with housing departments or schools, helping them to establish links with local services, supporting access to learning or work opportunities, or running coffee mornings for small groups.

This is not suitable for volunteers looking for short-term opportunities but there is flexibility on when the volunteering can take place. Support and training will be provided by our Outreach Volunteer Coordinator but we do ask that you are willing to gain knowledge about issues related to domestic abuse. Volunteers need to be calm, non-judgemental and be well organised.   You will be asked to attend two training evenings (via zoom) and will meet with the Outreach Volunteer Coordinator before being accepted on the programme.
