About Haslewey
Haslewey Community Centre is a vibrant, inclusive hub serving more than 1,000 local residents every week. We provide a welcoming café, fitness and wellbeing classes, counselling, arts and crafts groups, children’s activities, social groups, and essential community services. As a charity and community business, every pound we earn is reinvested into supporting the local community.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help oversee Haslewey’s financial management and long‑term sustainability. The Treasurer works closely with the Centre Manager and external accountant to ensure clear, accurate financial information is presented to the Board and that strong financial governance is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
• Review financial reports, budgets and forecasts
• Present clear financial information to the Board of Trustees
• Ensure financial transparency, good governance and Charity Commission compliance
• Support long‑term financial planning and decision‑making
• Contribute to identifying funding opportunities and strengthening grant applications
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with financial experience who is community‑minded, reliable, and able to communicate financial information clearly. You do not need previous trustee experience — enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are equally valuable.
Essential Skills
• Background in finance, accounting or business management
• Confidence reviewing Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and cash flow reports
• Ability to analyse budgets and contribute to long‑term financial planning
• Good communication skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of charity finances or willingness to learn
Time Commitment
• Trustee meetings every two months
• One AGM annually
• Optional involvement in fundraising, grants or community projects
Meetings are usually held at Haslewey, with remote attendance welcomed.
Why This Role Matters
Your contribution will help ensure Haslewey remains financially sustainable and able to continue delivering vital community services. The Treasurer plays an essential role in supporting the centre’s future growth, improving facilities, and providing affordable and accessible services for the whole community.
Mission Statement
We are a non-government funded community centre with a wide range of daily activities to suit all needs. With a warm welcome and lots of fun activities, we strive to offer a place for people of all ages to come and enjoy.
The Haslewey is a completely independent organisation and a registered charity that runs as a business. To enable us to continue to benefit the local community, we are heavily dependent on income we generate from our services and events.
