2025 Vintage Fashion Squad

 

Imagine spending your volunteer days surrounded by exquisite vintage garments, stunning accessories, and timeless style. As a Fashion Retail Volunteer with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria), you’ll help prepare and present unique pieces for exhibitions, retail events, and our iconic Vintage Clothing Sale across a 12 month calendar. This is your backstage pass to the world of heritage fashion—and a chance to preserve it for future generations. 

Join our volunteer team and help bring Victoria’s sartorial heritage to life. Whether you’re welcoming visitors to a fashion pop-up, styling a display for a seasonal exhibition, or sorting through vintage donations, you’ll be part of a vibrant, creative crew. Together, we’ll celebrate the glamour, craftsmanship, and cultural stories behind every stitch. 

Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast, a heritage lover or someone who thrives in a retail or front-of-house environment—we’d love to hear from you! 

Volunteer activities could include: 

  • Assisting with the setup and presentation of fashion exhibitions and retail events 

  • Supporting front-of-house operations and engaging with visitors 

  • Helping prepare vintage and historical garments for display or sale 

  • Participating in donation sorting and styling sessions 

  • Attending key events at venues such as Rippon Lea Estate, Tasma Terrace, and Abbotsford Convent 

  • Collaborating with a team of passionate volunteers under the supervision of NTAV staff 

  • Contributing to the preservation and celebration of fashion heritage in Victoria 

Skills and Interests we’re looking for: 

  • An interest and knowledge of vintage fashion and collectibles 

  • Retail or customer service experience (very desirable but not essential) 

  • A flair for styling, curation, or visual merchandising 

  • A positive, team-oriented attitude 

  • A passion for sustainability and community fundraising

As part of the application process, you’ll be asked to register as a National Trust Volunteer. Volunteers for fashion events may be required to hold a current Working with Children’s Check (free for volunteers) or a police check (discounted with our community code).
