Canadian Parents for French Manitoba is seeking experienced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial individuals to volunteer as 

 

CHAPTER VOLUNTEERS 

 

Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents 25,000 members across Canada. We are located across the country with 10 Branches and offices, and 135+ local community Chapters. We believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic, and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. We work to ensure that all learners have the opportunity, support, and motivation to learn and use French.

 

POSITION SUMMARY  

 

Are you a doer? Does organizing French experiences in your community interest you? Would you like to support youth in their journey of becoming lifelong bilinguals? If your answer is yes, then we need someone like YOU to help run a CPF Chapter or form a new one in any corner of Manitoba!

 

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is looking for volunteers who are interested in being involved with an existing local MB Chapter or starting a new Chapter. The Chapter Volunteers help support the Chapter Board carry out its local programs. Throughout the year the Chapter hosts between 3 to 4 public events, attends school board meetings, and carries out community fundraisers and membership drive. Chapter Volunteers are not elected to the Board and do not need to be CPF Members. Volunteers help keep the Chapter viable by contributing new ideas as well as donating their time as event support. Chapter positions vary by Chapter.

 

We are recruiting volunteers who can dedicate 3 to 5 hours per month (minimum) for our local Chapters. Volunteers have the ability to choose their own schedule each week. Volunteers must be comfortable hosting meetings, public speaking, and working with diverse populations and families. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience working with non-profit organizations would be an asset.
  • Experience in fundraising or advocacy in the school system is a plus.
  • Project management knowledge and experience working with volunteers would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge about FSL (French Second Language) programs locally, provincially, or nationally, is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Time and project management skills. 
  • Bilingualism is an asset but not required. 

*Term commitment for roles varies.
