Youth Behavioral Health Programs and Safe Streets

Therapeutic Mentoring

A volunteer Therapeutic Mentor is a special visitor, a positive role model and a consistent person in a child's life. Mentors provide structured, one-to-one, strength-based relationships for youth, ages 9 to 17, who have been referred by their therapists to be in the Therapeutic Mentoring Program. Mentors may choose between school-based, residential, or community-based mentoring with matches available in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, and Harford Counties. Mentors make at least a one-year commitment, visit their assigned child once a week, and receive special training prior to the match. Ongoing support, resources, additional training and guidance by staff are provided throughout the match. Together, mentors and mentees learn new things and have fun!! You can get started simply by completing an application in the Family Services Volunteer and Intern Hub.
