The Bridgewater Hall – 1 Carey Gully Road, Bridgewater SA 5155
The Bridgewater Hall is a lovely local heritage building in the heart of Bridgewater, in the Adelaide Hills. It was initiated and built by the local community and began as the Bridgewater Institute, with the foundation stone laid in October 1913 by Lady Bosanquet. The Bridgewater Institute was the venue for many local community and social events. Run by volunteers and fundraising, the institute was managed by the women of the community, to primarily provide educational opportunities and as a place for social connection and entertainment. As the community evolved, so did the building. The library was relocated, and the building became known as Bridgewater Hall—a venue that continues to play an important role in local community life.
Today, the hall is owned by the Adelaide Hills Council and managed by a small, dedicated group of local volunteers. From regular community activities and classes to celebrations, performances and private events, the hall continues to bring people together every week.
