Bush For Life Volunteer

Bush For Life empowers and connects the community to enjoy, advocate and care for our precious bushland. We support people to make a positive on-ground impact, creating an environmental legacy and giving hope for the future. We have a number of bushland sites across the Adelaide Hills and Mt Barker region. Bushcare is a practice that encourages natural regeneration by removing isolated weeds that compete with our native plants for space, food & water. Volunteers use minimal disturbance bushcare techniques to reduce the threat that environmental weeds place on South Australia's native bushland.

We offer ongoing training and support to our volunteers. All activities are suitable for anyone who is in general good health. There is no heavy work, but there is bending and squatting involved as well as walking short distances to some sites over uneven ground.

You can choose to either participate in our Bush Action Teams and work with a team of volunteers and 2 experienced staff across a range of sites, or choose to adopt-a-site and work at your own pace to help restore the bushland. Bush Action Teams run from 9am 3.30pm on site. We provide transport from our Brooklyn Park Office with designated pick up points along the way, or you can meet us on site. No prior skills or knowledge required. Training and equipment provided on the day. Contact us for our current schedule of Bush Action Teams.

There is no commitment to volunteering with the Bush For Life Program, however, if you are enjoying the Bush Action Team days and would like to volunteer more regularly, locally, or want a more flexible schedule, then the next step would be to attend a Bushcare workshop.
