Volunteer Museum Tour Guides

Are you interested in history and storytelling?

We are looking for volunteer museum tour guides to engage visitors with local history and culture. Including stories about the Peramangk people and Bukatila, the German Settlers, and early Hahndorf life.  

We are looking for people who are interested in history and who want to give back to the community by volunteering in our heritage museum. Our ideal candidates are friendly with good people and communication skills and smart appearance, and who enjoy meeting people and want to feel part of a team.

Duties include telling stories that relate to the history and artefacts in the museum.

Training is provided with guide notes and stories.

We have tour guides for general public and tour guides for school groups.

Tour Guides – General Public

Do you enjoy chatting and sharing stories? We have lots of visitors from Adelaide, interstate and overseas who are interested in history and heritage, including tourist and community groups (all ages and mostly adults). The tours are approximately 20 minutes long and all training and written material and resources are provided. Tours will be during the week and at weekends with varying hours that suit you. If you like chatting people and are interested in history then this is the perfect role for you.

Tour Guides - School Groups

Do you enjoy storytelling and talking to school aged children? We have lots of school groups who visit us throughout the year as part of their curriculum and include Humanity and social sciences, and German language. The students come to learn about Peramangk culture and the German settlers and early Hahndorf life. We provide training, activity materials and guide notes - with lots of funny and interesting stories! Teachers always accompany the students, and all tours are approximately 20 minutes long and pre booked on weekdays. Please be willing to obtain a working with children certificate for this volunteer role.
