Court Network Volunteering Portal

Family Court Brisbane

Court Network's new Family Court Safety Net service, responds to the increasing awareness that court users in the family court juggle many complex interpersonal, legal and safety factors. Volunteers in this new service will work collaboratively with court users, court staff and specialist services, including the Family Advocacy and Support Service (FASS), linking court users to the support, information and protection they need to prepare for, navigate and understand their journey through Family Court.

Volunteers can:

  • give you support and information about going to court
  • explain court processes
  • provide information about accessing legal support
  • assist you to feel safe while at court
  • help to arrange access to a secure room if required
  • familiarize you with the court beforehand, so you know where to go
  • provide information about how to access an interpreter
  • be a support person in court
  • provide support while you give your evidence in a remote witness facility
  • help explain decisions that affect you
  • help you with completing online applications
