VOLUNTEER ROLE: Volunteer Marketing Assistant
REPORTS TO: Senior Marketing Manager
LOCATION: Hybrid – home/Sittingbourne
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
Our Volunteer Marketing Assistant will play an important part in helping Demelza maintain a strong, engaging, and accurate digital presence. Working closely with our Marketing and Digital teams, you will support essential website updates, social media monitoring, campaign optimisation, and research.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain practical experience in digital marketing, analytics, and website management within a supportive charity environment.
ROLE/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
WEBSITE SUPPORT
- Support the Digital Marketing Assistant with CMS tasks as needed - make basic website updates, including uploading content, replacing images, adjusting copy and fixing small errors.
- Identify broken links, inaccuracies or outdated content and report them to the team.
SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT
- Help monitor comments, tags, messages and mentions across our social media platforms.
- Schedule pre-prepared posts using our content planner and scheduling tools.
- Monitor trends, conversations and relevant sector activity and share useful insights.
- Support with crafting engaging copy for use online when required.
PAID CAMPAIGN SUPPORT
- Review performance on live Meta and PPC campaigns and gain an understanding of the build process (training provided).
- Help identify underperforming ads or opportunities for improvement.
- Support the Digital Marketing Manager by flagging insights and assisting with optimisations and dashboard updates.
MARKETING RESEARCH AND ADMINISTRATION
- Support the Marketing Manager with research into audiences, campaign themes, key trends and competitor activity.
- Help with administrative tasks such as gathering information (e.g. print costs) or updating spreadsheets.
- Help generate basic campaign reports by pulling performance data, exporting dashboards and updating templates.
- Support with maintaining content libraries, campaign documents and digital filing systems.
SKILLS & QUALITIES:
- Someone proactive, creative and eager to learn.
- Comfortable using social media, with training provided for all tools.
- Strong written communication skills, with good attention to detail and accuracy.
- A warm, supportive communication style when interacting online.
- An interest in digital marketing, websites or analytics.

TIME COMMITMENT:
A minimum commitment of 8 hours per week is needed. Hours can be arranged flexibly between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
TRAINING AND SUPPORT:
You will be given a Volunteer Handbook, which covers mandatory training such as Moving & Handling, Fire, Data Protection and Safeguarding. In addition, you will complete an induction with your line manager. Specific, specialist training will be provided where appropriate/relevant to the area you will be assigned to. Ongoing support is available to volunteers through their line manager and the Voluntary Services team.
All volunteers must maintain their mandatory training to continue in their role.
UNIFORM/DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS:
When on-site, please wear smart work attire in the office – no denim jeans.
