Vehicle Management Volunteer
Our Estates Department at the Demelza site in Kent are looking for a Volunteer to assist with the Demelza vehicles.
ROLE/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check pool/ care vehicles on monthly basic, top up screen wash, oil, type pressure.
- Clean vehicle onsite / take to car wash.
- Record mileage.
- Check vehicle has current documents- driver guides.
- Check vehicles have basic items- de icer, scrapers, hi-vis.
- Take vehicles to garages for MOT’s, service or repairs, on your own or with a member of Estates Team.

Skills and qualities beneficial for the role:
- Demonstrate a good understanding of vehicle maintenance.
- Use efficiently various tools.
- Be reliable and have a flexible approach to tasks allocated.
- Follow oral or written instructions.
- Work independently with minimum supervision and establish co-operative, collaborative relationships.
- Communicate sensitively, politely and clearly to the children, families and visitors of Demelza House, respecting confidentiality at all times.
- Show awareness and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety in your assigned areas/ environments.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Specific times will be as agreed with allocated point of contact.
Volunteers should be prepared to make a regular commitment to suit personal availability.
TRAINING AND SUPPORT:
You will be given a Volunteer Handbook, which covers mandatory training such as Moving & Handling, Fire Training, Data Protection and Safeguarding. In addition, you will complete an induction with your line manager. Specific, specialist training will be provided where appropriate/relevant to the area you will be assigned to. Ongoing support is available to volunteers through their line manager and voluntary services.
All volunteers must maintain their mandatory training to continue in their role.
UNIFORM/DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS:
Sweatshirt, jeans/overalls, sturdy protective boots and suitable gloves.
