Reception Volunteer

 

LOCATION:

 

Demelza Hospice, Rook Lane, Sittingbourne, Kent 

 

HOURS/DAYS:

 

2 shifts are available. Either Monday 9am to 1pm or Thursday 1pm to 5pm

 

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

 

Based in Sittingbourne, our volunteer Receptionists offer a warm welcome and a friendly face to our visitors, children and families.

 

 

DUTIES:

  • Answering telephone calls - not a busy switchboard, as most colleagues use a direct dial number
  • Meeting and greeting visitors, children and families, staff, volunteers and trustees
  • Administration duties - e-mail system, photocopying, scanning, assisting with mailshots
  • Sorting incoming post and franking and preparing outgoing post
  • Managing parcels and deliveries

 

If you enjoy meeting and talking with new people, this will be a fantastic opportunity for you to donate your time and skills to provide front-line support to our charity.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT:

 

You will be given a Volunteer Handbook, which covers mandatory training such as Moving & Handling, Fire Training, Data Protection and Safeguarding.  In addition, you will complete an induction with your line manager. Specific, specialist training will be provided where appropriate/relevant to the area you will be assigned to. Ongoing support is available to volunteers through their line manager and the Voluntary Services team. All volunteers must maintain their mandatory training to continue in their role.

 

UNIFORM/DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Smart office attire is required (a Demelza polo shirt can be provided if required)
  • ID badge is provided and must be worn at all times
