What you will gain from volunteering

  • A chance to meet new people and make new friends
  • The time to develop new skills, take on new challenges and enjoy new experiences
  • A rewarding opportunity to make an invaluable contribution by helping Demelza support children with terminal conditions and their loved ones.

Why volunteer for Demelza

There are approximately 40,000 families in the UK with a child who has a terminal condition and this number is rising all the time. The more we understand these conditions, the more effective treatments become and more children than ever before are living for longer with complex conditions.

Last year, Demelza was a lifeline to over 650 children, young people and families’ throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

We provide specialist care and emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, completely free of charge to those who are in need.

Demelza is different because we help with every element of life for a child with a terminal condition. We get to know each and every child, young person and family we work with to ensure they receive a care plan as unique as they are.

Above all, Demelza could not achieve this high quality service without the volunteers who give their time, energy and dedication.

Over 1,000 volunteers give their time across all areas of the charity and we would be incredibly grateful for you to join our team of volunteers.

Together with your support, we will be there to bring joy, fun and relaxation to the lives of every child and family that needs our help.

Your time will be vital in helping children with terminal conditions and their families stay together for as long as they have, building memories that will last forever.
