Driving and Practical Support Kent

Volunteer Driver

Join us as a volunteer driver and help us with a range of driving activities. As part of our practical support volunteering team, driving volunteers help support Demelza families in so many ways. Tasks can include helping families get to and from the hospice or taking them to medical appointments, taking children or families to our activities allowing them to take part in things they are not normally able to, collecting equipment, and helping delivery family support activity bags, therapy bags and treats such as Easter Eggs and Christmas presents.

You must have held your full driving licence for 2yrs and be aged over 21.

You can use your own vehicle for some of these activities, providing they are able to meet insurance requirements. Alternatively, you can drive a Demelza car or mini bus subject to licence restrictions.

All driving volunteers must undertake a DBS check when joining Demelza at the enhanced level, including barred list information. Because you will be driving on behalf of Demelza, we will also need to see your driving licence, and any MOT or Insurance documents if you are using your own vehicle.

What you will gain from volunteering

  • A rewarding opportunity to make an invaluable contribution by helping Demelza support children with terminal conditions and their loved ones.
  • A chance to meet new people, make new friends and be part of a fantastic team that really make a difference.
  • The ability to take on new challenges and enjoy new experiences, whilst using your skills.
