Driving Kent

Volunteer Driver

Driving volunteers help support Demelza families in so many ways. Whether you are happy to undertake small local drives or help a bit further afield, it is such a help to our families and the staff supporting them. Tasks can include:

  • helping families get to and from the hospice or taking them to medical appointments
  • taking children or families to our activities allowing them to take part in things they are not normally able to
  • collecting or delivering essential equipment
  • helping delivery family support activity bags, therapy bags and treats such as Easter Eggs and Christmas presents.

You must have held your full driving licence for 2yrs and be aged over 21.

You can use your own vehicle for some of these activities, providing they are able to meet insurance requirements. Alternatively, you can drive a Demelza car or mini bus subject to licence restrictions.

All driving volunteers must undertake a DBS check when joining Demelza at the enhanced level, including barred list information. Because you will be driving on behalf of Demelza, we will also need to see your driving licence, and any MOT or Insurance documents if you are using your own vehicle.
