Driving Volunteer

Are you over 21 and have you held a driving licence for 2yrs?

Do you enjoy driving?  Have some time to spare?

We need drivers who can help children and families access our services

How you can get involved

Join us as a volunteer driver and help us with a range of driving activities which can include picking up families to bring them to the hospice or take them to a medical appointment, taking children or families to our activities allowing them to take part in things they are not normally able to, collecting equipment, taking staff or other volunteers to events.

Volunteers can use their own vehicles for some of these activities providing they are able to meet insurance requirements, or they can drive a Demelza car or mini bus subject to licence restrictions.  You must have held your full driving licence for 2yrs and be aged over 21 for car driving and 25yrs for Mini Bus.

We need Driving Volunteer's in Kent, South East London

What you will gain from volunteering

  • A chance to meet new people and make new friends
  • The time to develop new skills, take on new challenges and enjoy new experiences
  • A rewarding opportunity to make an invaluable contribution by helping Demelza support children with terminal conditions and their loved ones.

Why volunteer for Demelza

There are approximately 40,000 families in the UK with a child who has a terminal condition and this number is rising all the time. The more we understand these conditions, the more effective treatments become and more children than ever before are living for longer with complex conditions.

Last year, Demelza was a lifeline to over 650 children, young people and families’ throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

We provide specialist care and emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, completely free of charge to those who are in need.

Demelza is different because we help with every element of life for a child with a terminal condition. We get to know each and every child, young person and family we work with to ensure they receive a care plan as unique as they are.

Above all, Demelza could not achieve this high quality service without the volunteers who give their time, energy and dedication.

Over 1,000 volunteers give their time across all areas of the charity and we would be incredibly grateful for you to join our team of volunteers.

Together with your support, we will be there to bring joy, fun and relaxation to the lives of every child and family that needs our help.

Your time will be vital in helping children with terminal conditions and their families stay together for as long as they have, building memories that will last forever.
