Sugar Land Better Block: A Placemaking Project by The Civic Arts Division

About the project:
The Sugar Land Civic Arts Division, City of Sugar Land, and The Better Block extend an invitation to join us to temporarily demonstrate what is possible at 119 Brooks St. in the Belknap Brookside area.

The temporary redesign includes elements like a space for live music, shade, seating, native plants, art elements, and activation. Your involvement is crucial to completing the design. Volunteer workshops will center on painting, planting, assembling temporary structures, and more.

No prior experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm! Through these workshops, we'll delve into placemaking and discover how quality public spaces can positively impact communities. Let's create a lasting impression together—thank you for being an integral part of Sugar Land Better Block!

• Event Set Up: 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM: Please join us in setting up the event. This may include helping vendors set up, arranging seating, assisting in the last minute touches. Actual volunteer activities are subject to change.

• Event Assistance and Clean Up Crew: 6:00 PM- 10:00 PM: Please help us in making sure the event goes smoothly. Tasks include picking up trash, getting people to take our on-site survey, and making sure the vendors have everything they need. After the demonstration, tasks will include helping vendors tear down, picking up trash, and overall cleaning up the site in preparation for the next day. Actual volunteer activities are subject to change.

• Event Set Up and Event Assistance: 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM: Please join us in setting up the event. This may include helping vendors set up, arranging seating, assisting in the last minute touches. Once the demonstration starts, tasks will include picking up trash, getting people to take our on-site survey, and making sure the vendors have everything they need. Actual volunteer activities are subject to change.

• Clean Up Crew: 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM: Please join us in cleaning up the event. This may include helping vendors tear down, picking up trash, and putting items away. Actual volunteer activities are subject to change.
