A hidden Geelong gem.
From must have fashion, to vintage homewares and great books our Op Shop is a destination for local area. Uniting Op Shops provide affordable clothing and homeware items in a welcoming and inclusive environment, while providing an essential role in funding Uniting’s program delivery.
Our aim is to delight customers in a meaningful and memorable way in a contemporary retail environment that is positive, creative, inclusive and fun! From creating a vibrant and dynamic space using imaginative displays of quality donations, to serving and assisting customers, working behind the scenes with sorting and tagging new stock, the friendly opshop is at the heart of the Highton community. Why not add your talents to tour Op Shop team.
Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and a crucial part of our retail shops. We are flexible and work to accommodate busy volunteers, ideally you would be available 1 – 3 days per week for full day or half day shifts. If you like people, customer service, merchandising, fashion, have an interest in the environment and learning new skills - any or all the above! – then this opportunity is for you. We look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you to our team!
What is it like to work in the Op Shop?
“Each day is different — I could be hanging and tagging donated items, working on the register, sorting items or clearing shelves that need to be dusted. Lunchtime is always busy, so while we potter about, we focus on greeting people as they walk in to the shop. What I like most about helping out here is the variety — both in the people who visit the shop and those who work here, as well as the amazing range of items that are donated to us. There is never a dull moment and I’m grateful we all get along really well — even when we’re under the pump. We all support each other to deal with some of our more challenging customers — we know that working together is the best way to get through the day and no-one is expected to do anything they are uncomfortable with.” – Op Shop Team Member
