Family Volunteering

Volunteering with your children or other family members can be great way of spending time together and helping pets. Perhaps you are looking for activities at weekends or during holiday times, whatever it is, Blue Cross has a variety of ways you can get involved to help more pets.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Meeting with people you care about to do something fun and meaningful for pets. Specific activities to be arranged with your local volunteer coordinator
  • Work alongside our team to further develop the project
  • Parents/guardians must supervise young people at all times to take part in family volunteering opportunities.

 

Types of family opportunities for family volunteering …..

 

  • Knitting groups to knit blankets for use with pets, or for sale for community fundraising
  • Running a stall with clothes and goods from at a local market
  • Running tombola and other fundraising activities at open days and seasonal events
  • Kitten & Cat socialising
  • Book sales, car boot sales and cake making for community fundraising
  • Building enrichment/making toys for the animals in our care
  • Site gardening and maintenance to ensure the site looks great

What we are looking for:

  • Parent/guardian must be over 18 years old
  • Excellent people skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Organised and motivated
  • Happy to work with others
  • Friendly and approachable manner
  • Willingness to learn about the work of Blue Cross
  • Willingness to follow H&S policies and procedures for  the activity
