Are you aiming for a career in animal welfare? Are you a pet lover looking to build up your cv and experience,complete your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, or required to complete at least 15 days in an animal environment? Blue Cross can offer long term placements for college students assisting the team with all routine animal care tasks.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Helping with routine cleaning in the cattery
  • Feeding, grooming and exercising the pets
  • Socialising the pets, stroking, playing with them and getting them used to being handled
  • Shadowing staff on a range of other activities
  • Monitoring health, welfare and behaviour of the pets

What we are looking for:

  • Regular commitment and reliability
  • An interest in pet welfare. Experience of owning or caring for pets is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team or alone
  • An understanding of the care pets require and willingness to carry out routine tasks such as cleaning
  • Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures
  • A reasonable level of fitness

Time commitment: 1 day a week on a set day, starting by 8.30am

 

You will be required to complete our Blue Cross Rehoming Training Programme

Please note we cannot take volunteers under the age of 16 years, or block placements - We also only have cats onsite
