Cat carer

Are you a cat lover looking for a chance to gain practical experience and skills? Blue Cross is looking for enthusiastic and caring people to help us look after our cats until they find loving new homes.


What you will be doing:

  • Helping with routine cleaning in the cattery including cleaning pens, litter trays and food bowls
  • Feeding and grooming cats
  • Socialising the cats, stroking, playing and getting them used to being handled
  • Monitoring the health, welfare and behaviour of cats

What we are looking for:

  • Regular commitment and reliability - We do ask our morning volunteers to start by 8:30, if you cannot be here for then, please request afternoons. 
  • Experience of owning or caring for cats and/or an interest in their welfare
  • Ability to work in a team or alone
  • Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures
  • A reasonable level of fitness to carry out an active role
  • You must live within 30 minutes of the centre

Time commitment: 1 shift a week on a set day from 8/8.30 to 12.30 - Please note we cannot take volunteers under the age of 16

You will be required to complete appropriate units of our Blue Cross Rehoming Training Programme
