Rehoming and Advice Volunteer

Are you great with people and passionate about pets?  Are you looking for an opportunity to build up your CV while helping both pets and people?  We are looking for a volunteer with good organisational skills and a friendly approach to greet and assist visitors to our Rehoming and Advice Unit.  You will support the rehoming of pets and offer basic advice about pet care and Blue Cross services.

What you will be doing:

  • Explaining the rehoming procedure, providing advice about Blue Cross services and answering queries in person, over the phone and over email
  • Speaking to people about our pets and matching pets to their new homes
  • Booking appointments for assessments, for our vet clinic and for pets to meet new owners and be rehomed
  • Ensuring paperwork and leaflets are stocked up and available for visitors
  • Logging details about pets onto databases
  • Providing information on various pet care issues and Blue Cross services


What we are looking for:

  • Experience of owning or caring for pets
  • Computer literate
  • The ability to work in a team or alone
  • A willingness and ability to learn and follow instructions quickly and accurately
  • Good face to face and over the phone communication skills
  • Confident and approachable manner
  • Previous experience of dealing with the public

Time commitment: flexible but a regular commitment will be required.
