Telemark Place Tree Planting Day
24th March 2024
The inaugural Telemark Place snow gum planting day will be hosted by the Mirrabooka Ski Lodge and is supported by National Parks and Wildlife. The aim of the day is to plant 250 snow gums in and around Telemark Place, encompassing lodges Alexandra Illabunda, Dianella and Telemark, to help revegetate those areas affected by the dieback associated with the longicorn beetle.
The day will commence at 9.30am and all participants will be briefed on how and where to plant the snow gums, including: site preparation, hole digging, planting, staking, protecting and mulching. Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and a broad brimmed hat, and to bring along shovels, hand trowels and gloves.
A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided free for all volunteers, and NPWS will provide a guest speaker to provide an update on the dieback. It’s a great activity to involve the kids in, and a wonderful opportunity to mingle and get to know members from other lodges, while doing your bit for the Perisher Range snow gums.
