Parent and Tot Play Program Volunteer - Saint John Regional Y

Qualifications and Skills: Must enjoy running and playing in a gym environment with infants and children to 5 years of age. Current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector screening and Department of Social Development Record Check required.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and tear down of play equipment and assist in keeping program and storage areas safe and organized
  • Participate in play with infants and preschoolers while providing guidance, support and encouragement
  • Assist leaders in developing fun, engaging and age appropriate activities
  • Foster a learning environment for children during play
  • Use respectable language at all times
  • Be well groomed and dressed appropriately in clothing that is fitting for the positions and that will leave the best possible impression on the public
  • Accept the guidance and decisions from the Supervisor/Director as well as reporting planned or unplanned absence to the Supervisor/Director
  • Treat staff, clients and other volunteers of the YMCA of Greater Saint John with respect and dignity and be responsible in the use of the YMCA of Greater Saint John’s resources
  • Perform Volunteer responsibilities promptly, reliably and to the best of the Volunteer’s ability
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of the YMCA of Greater Saint John
  • To accept and work within the YMCA of Greater Saint John’s Guiding Principles, the Mission Statement as well as the Values of the YMCA of Greater Saint John
  • To appropriately display YMCA of Greater Saint John Volunteer identification as required
  • Participate in orientation and training programs when required

Time Commitment: Available shifts are as follows:

  • Saturday 9 a.m.-10 a.m
