PROGRAM NAME:     SACRO – Youth Mentorship Program

 

POSITION TITLE:         Youth Mentor

                                         

SCHEDULE:                   Flexible – Mondays to Fridays

REPORTS TO:               Ruby Bhatti – Youth Mentor Facilitator

POSITION PURPOSE

 

This Youth Mentor Program being run by the South Asian Community Resource Office (SACRO) is a program where low to moderate risk youth can be referred to engage in extracurricular activities. This program will help them learn how to have a pro-social, positive relationship with a role model through being matched with a screened and trained volunteer mentor.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentors arrange meeting times with their youth (days, evening, weekends) and choose activities that they will both enjoy doing together.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification:

  • Maintenance of a valid Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License & Drivers Abstract.
  • 19 + Years of Age.

Experience:

  • Experience working with vulnerable and at risk youth and/or diverse groups of people.

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with youth.
  • Conflict resolution/management skills.
  • Creating a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Self-Motivation, organizational skills and efficiency in time management.
  • Knowledge of another language other than English is an asset.
