Digital Content Assistant for Children and Families Services

Role Purpose

The purpose of this volunteer role is to support local services in Newcastle Upon Tyne with social media content creation, in particular videos, and associated  tasks. 


Remote with occasional travel to Newcastle Upon Tyne based services

How often/How Long

Ongoing; we estimate 1-2 hours a week on average, but this can be flexible

What we need you to do

  • Offer Children and Families services in Newcastle support with their social media sites, primarily Facebook, by creating content for social media (infographics, written copy and video) using software approved by Action for Children ie Shotcut and Canva
  • Provide ideas and suggestions for social media content and campaigns
  • Produce content that meets our Brand guidelines and tone of voice
  • Produce content in line with a planned schedule

What skills and experience do you need?

  • We’re open to a range of experience and skill levels, but looking for someone familiar with and who has a keen interest in social media/digital content 
  • Some social media content creation and / or video editing experience
  • Some copywriting experience (short and long form)

What we ask of you:

  • To complete a pre-screen task prior to interview
  • To provide two references from non-family members and other relevant documents related to the role
  • Provide the documents required for a Basic DBS check
  • To keep to all the charity’s policies and guidelines
  • To complete an induction and any training relating to the role

Please note:

  • Our service operates Monday to Friday, 9am - 4.30pm with limited opportunities for early evening and weekend support 
  • As part of Action for Children's Safeguarding Policy we will expect all volunteers to undergo a disclosure check. This will be organised by project staff
