Become a Transport Driver and/or Assisted Shopping Volunteer!
Campbelltown City Council’s Commonwealth Home Support Program (HSP) is seeking friendly, reliable volunteers to assist older community members by providing safe transport to appointments and/or support with local shopping. Volunteers can contribute on any day Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm (times may vary depending on transport needs), and we are happy to work with you around your availability.
About the Program:
The HSP, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, delivers a range of entry-level services to support older people to live independently and safely in their homes and communities.
About the Role:
As a Transport Driver and/or Assisted Shopping Volunteer, you will:
- Drive clients who have limited transport options to local medical or personal appointments
and/or - Provide support to clients with shopping, by transporting clients to and from the shops and assisting them to shop
Volunteer Requirements:
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Valid Police Clearance (facilitated by Council)
- Use of own vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) or Council pool vehicle
- Good driving history and comprehensive motor insurance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy, patience, and reliability
- Willingness to attend mandatory training
- COVID-19 vaccinations are voluntary but strongly encouraged
