Become a Social Host Volunteer
Campbelltown City Council’s Home Support Program is seeking friendly, reliable volunteers to support older community members through the Get Connected Program. Social Hosts will assist with social events and activities primarily held at Council, helping create welcoming, enjoyable and inclusive experiences for older residents.
Volunteers provide their availability each quarter, with a roster developed by the Social Options Coordinator.
About the Program:
The Get Connected Program supports older people to maintain their independence, build social connections and participate in activities that promote health, wellbeing and lifelong learning.
About the Role:
As a Social Host Volunteer, you will:
- Welcome and engage with clients at Council events and activities
- Help create a friendly and inclusive environment
- Encourage clients to participate and connect with others
- Assist with setting up and packing down events
- Work alongside the Social Options Coordinator, Council staff and other volunteers
Volunteer Requirements:
- Previous experience working with older people is desirable but not essential
- Friendly, approachable and reliable
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy, patience and respect for people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Attend mandatory training
- First Aid & CPR certification, or willingness to obtain (facilitated by Council)
- Valid National Police Clearance (facilitated by Council)
