Community Bus Helper

Bus Helper required for a regular Thursday morning shift  (approximately 8am to 12.30pm) for Council's door-to-door service.

 

In your role as a Volunteer Community Bus Helper, and in conjunction with the Community Bus Driver, you will contribute to providing an efficient and safe Community Bus service, in the operation of its door-to-door service.

 

You will:

  • greet passengers and direct them to their seats
  • assist passengers on and off the Community Bus
  • move up and down the bus stairs multiple times per shift
  • help load and unload shopping bags in an orderly manner
  • help carry shopping bags to passenger’s front door, if required
  • lift and place mobility aides into the bus as required
  • Hold a valid DHS working with children clearance at all times while volunteering (Council can arrange)

This role requires good mobility and a good level of physical fitness is essential.

If you are:

  • friendly with strong communication skills
  • are sensitive to the needs of others, including those with a disability, the elderly, or from a CALD background
  • can represent Council in a professional manner
  • reliable
  • can commit to volunteering each Thursday morning
