Local History
The Ian Reddy Local History room is the heart of our local history collection, showcasing stories of Campbelltown's people, places and events. The collection includes photographs, maps, documents, books, school yearbooks, newspaper clippings and unique artefacts that preserve our Community's heritage.
Volunteers assist the Local History Officer in their work to collect the rich stories and histories of the City of Campbelltown for both current and future generations.
In your role as a Local History volunteer, you may be required to:
- Photocopy material for inclusion into the Local History Collection
- Abstract information from articles and newspapers, and entering these on to a database
- Process vertical file material
- Process and file ephemera
- Research specified topics
- Process Local History library material
- Photograph events and places of local historical interest
- Research family history enquiries
- Take part in special projects, e.g. oral history projects, profiling areas from resources available or conducting a stock take of a dedicated area of the Local History Collection
- Promote the Collection to the community
- Sort and identify photographs
